Property Taxes
The tax amount on your combined Tax and Assessment Notice is for taxes levied for the current year. The Tax and Assessment Notice for the Town of Spirit River are mailed out at the end of June and are due by August 31 each year.
If payment of taxes is not received by the due date of August 31, a penalty of 5% (5 percent) will be levied against any remaining unpaid taxes on the 1st day of September. A second penalty of 13% (13 percent) will be levied against any remaining unpaid taxes on the 6th business day of September. Any outstanding arrears will receive a penalty of 18% (18 percent) on January 1 of each year.
Any outstanding arrears after two (2) years will be subject to the Tax Recovery Process.
The Town of Spirit River property taxes may consist of municipal and educational taxes, Grande Spirit, Recreation Tax, and local improvement charges.
